Partially revised Enforcement Order of the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the ministerial ordinance of the Industrial Safety and Health Act came into effect on November 1, 2015, with the aim of strengthening measures to prevent health hazards to workers related to Refractory Ceramic Fibers (hereinafter referred to as RCF). As a result of these amendments, RCFs are now subject to labeling. RCFs have been indicated as substances to be labeled as Class 2 substances that are regulated as specified chemical substances, and are subject to the precautionary regulations. The following measures must be taken: – Obligation to notify the use of RCF – Working environment measurement – Measures as a specially controlled substance – Appointment of a work supervisor – Special health checkups, etc. RCF products can be used if handled properly.
